Concealed Pistol License (CPL)
Requirements
By law, a concealed pistol license is required when a person is carrying a pistol concealed on their person or carrying or placing a loaded pistol in a vehicle. RCW 9.41.070 addresses the law relating to concealed pistol license.
The applicant must:
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- You must be a citizen of the United States, a permanent resident alien, or an eligible non-immigrant alien.
- If you are a permanent resident, you must provide your original Immigration issued Permanent Resident Card at time of application. If you are a non-immigrant alien, you must submit a copy of your Alien Firearms License and your I-94 number.
- You must reside in the city limits of Medina, the Town of Hunts Point or outside of WA State, in the case of non-resident applicants.
- You must show proof of your current Driver’s License or State ID issued by Washington State or any other state. Passports or Military IDs are not accepted in lieu of a state issued ID.
Additionally:
- CPL’s are normally issued within 30 days of filing for Washington residents, or 60 days if you are a non-resident.
- Licenses are valid for five years from the date of issue.
- Fingerprints for original applications will be taken by appointment only. Please call 425-233-6420
- Payments can be made either by cash or check - made payable to: City of Medina. At this time we are not accepting credit card payments.
Fees: License fees are due upon application and are non-refundable.
- ORIGINAL applicants – fingerprinting is required at time of submittal along with a fee of $49.25.
- RENEWAL applicants must have applied within 90 days, prior to expiration. The renewal fee is $32.00
- LATE RENEWAL applicants applying within 90 days, after the expiration. The late renewal fee is $42.00 (which includes a $10 late fee). Applicants that renew past the 90 days of expiration will have to reapply as an “original applicant”.
- REPLACEMENTS are $10 (lost or stolen).
